I27 A bomb in the field
Narrator: Mario Pozzobon Reporter: Riccardo Girardi
My uncle’s name is Mario Pozzobon, he is 72 years old and he lives in Albaredo. When he was only 14 he had experienced war. This is one of his stories:
It was nine o’clock in the morning when someone told me that a German plane, which was called Pippo, had thrown a big bomb in a field, where I usually worked. Immediately, my friend Pietro Topan and I went there by bike and see what had happened. The bomb was on a wheat field and we laid our bikes on it. But soon the owner of the field, Felice Zamarion, came. He had studied English and after reading the brass label on the bomb he cried, “Go away! The bomb could explode at any moment!”
We ran away quickly and the bomb exploded. I went there later to see the big hole on the ground. I picked up a splinter that I still keep on my fireplace.
