I28 Air raid
Narrator: Mario Pozzobon Reporter: Riccardo Girardi
On the fireplace I keep a cartridge which reminds me of this story:
One Sunday, in March, in 1944, there was an air raid. A passenger-cargo train going towards Treviso was hit.
The train had stopped between Albaredo and Casacorba. We were near the train when a group of fighters started to throw themselves down to hit the train. One more time we had been lucky; the pilots of the planes realized that we were only children so they did not shoot at first and we could easily run away. We ran to hide ourselves and the fighters started to shoot. We could hear the bullets whistling over our heads.
After the burst we went back home safely and sound and later we sold the brass cartridges, except for the one that I still keep.
