I8 Train bombardment
Narrator: Angela Reporter: Alberto Cavasin
One day in 1944 some German soldiers who were in the village of Carpenedo entered my grandmother Angela’s house, and they lurked around in the attic with their machine-guns.
In the afternoon some American planes flew over the village and they started to bomb the train which stopped at the level crossing of the village. The German soldiers, who lay in ambush into the houses, shot at the aeroplanes, while those who were inside the train tried to get off and run away, but most of them were killed or hurt.
During the fight the people of the village escaped through the fields around. In the evening when they came back home they found the Germans taking the dead and the injured soldiers on board of the train.
