I’m Anna Parisotto, I’m 77 years old. When the Second World War broke I was working as a farmhand with a rich family. I was about 17 years old.

One evening I was going to the town centre of Vedelago to buy some milk, while some American soldiers were coming from Castelfranco and some Germans from Albaredo.

A partisan started shooting against the Germans and this caused a fight among Italians, Germans and Americans. I had to go back home but I couldn’t cross the town square because of the battle. So I went through the fields.

When I arrived at home I hid myself with the landlord’s daughters under the stairs and we waited there all night.

The morning after, around the house, there were injured and dead soldiers.
